Northeast Events and District Meetings

Network, Learn, Share!

The Northeast District meetings occur on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. We meet six times per year: March, April, May, September, October, and November. The meetings begin with networking at 6:30pm, followed by a presentation at 7:00pm. Most of our meeting presentations provide 1 contact hour of education! A brief business meeting usually follows and meetings typically conclude by 8:30pm.

The Northeast District invites you to join us at our monthly meetings!

November 13, 2018 - "Rehabilitation Professionals Providing Meaningful Public Health Education for ACL Injury Prevention/Risk Management."
Location - University of Scranton
Time - 6:30 p.m.

Meeting Location Details:

Scranton University - Edward Leahy Hall, corner of Jefferson and Linden St. The meeting will be held in the Kane Forum on the 2nd floor.

Join the Northeast District for their monthly in-person meeting with a presentation by John Salva, PT, MPT, OCS.

Course Description:

There are more than 250,000 ACL surgeries in the U.S. every year, which results in an annual cost of $4 million to $6 million. Evidence has shown that there are also long-term implications of injury, specifically osteoarthritic changes within 10-15 years of the initial injury. Injury reduction programs have shown to be effective, but their implementation remains limited. Rehabilitation professionals are frequently involved in the recovery process, but our involvement in reducing injury risk is less common.

This presentation will cover reasons for becoming involved in proactive risk management and suggestions for how to implement a successful program. This session has been approved for 1 general contact hour. No registration required.
